Anti-rape protesters heading towards Dhaka after long march in Noakhali

Anti-rape protestors, after completing their long march, are now heading towards Dhaka.

“We are now heading towards Dhaka after accomplishing our grand rally at the open ground of Shaheed Minar in Noakhali at around 6:00pm”, said Mehdi Hasan Nobel, president of Bangladesh Chhatra Union.

From the rally there, the protesters announced another one to be held across the country on October 19 protesting the attack on their anti-rape long march, he said.

Further programmes will be announced soon, he informed.

Earlier in the day, the long march came under attack at Shaheed Minar area in Feni around 11:30am, where at least 35 protesters got injured.

The protesters started the long march yesterday from Dhaka to Noakhali to realise their nine-point demand amid growing incidents of rape, sexual harassment and violence against women across the country in recent times.
